More than 1000 people have lost their lives as an earthquake struck Eastern Afghanistan in the early hours yesterday.

The International Planned Parenthood Federation's (IPPF) Member Association, the Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is monitoring the situation on ground and is in talks with the National Disaster Management Authority.

With support from IPPF's Humanitarian team AFGA is preparing to respond in the worst affected areas by provisioning of essential Sexual and Reproductive Health services.
